Marvel Studios is reportedly preparing to kick off its promotional campaign for Avengers: Doomsday much earlier than expected by opening advance bookings for select premium-format screenings nearly five months before the film’s theatrical release.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, premium large-format tickets under Disney’s new Infinity Vision exhibition format are expected to go on sale as early as July 20, despite the film being scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.

The move is reportedly aimed at securing premium screens amid competition from other major Hollywood releases. The studio has not officially announced the ticket sale.

Why is Marvel opening ticket sales so early?

The report suggests Disney is looking to lock in premium-format screens ahead of the busy holiday release window. Warner Bros. is also expected to reserve IMAX screens for Dune: Part Three, making competition for premium auditoriums particularly intense.

Industry observers believe the early ticket sale is also designed to build anticipation ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel is widely expected to unveil fresh promotional material for the film.

Runtime reportedly revealed

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Avengers: Doomsday currently has an estimated runtime of 165 minutes (2 hours and 45 minutes).

If unchanged, the film will run longer than Avengers: Infinity War (149 minutes) but remain shorter than Avengers: Endgame (181 minutes). While minor edits are still possible before release, exhibitors typically finalise schedules once advance bookings begin.

Reports also indicate Disney is considering a special theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame later this year under the title Avengers: Endgame Encore as part of the promotional campaign leading into Doomsday.

Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU as Doctor Doom, joined by Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Tom Hiddleston, Paul Rudd, Pedro Pascal, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Vanessa Kirby, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and several other Marvel stars.
