India celebrated a successful week in the latest ICC rankings, with captain Shubman Gill reclaiming the No. 1 spot in the ODI batting rankings and teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi breaking into the top 50 of the T20I batting charts after a sensational series against Zimbabwe.

Shubman Gill back on top in ODI rankings

Gill regained the No. 1 position in the ICC ODI batting rankings, overtaking New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell to return to the summit. The Indian opener’s consistent performances have helped him reclaim the top spot, reinforcing his status as one of the world’s leading white-ball batters.

India’s dominance in ODI cricket was further reflected in the rankings, with three Indian batters featuring among the top five. The achievement highlights the depth and consistency of India’s batting line-up as the team continues to perform strongly in the 50-over format.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s meteoric rise grabs attention

The biggest mover in the latest rankings was 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who surged 230 places to a career-best 48th in the ICC T20I batting rankings. The youngster earned the jump after scoring 151 runs in three matches during India’s 3-0 T20I series win over Zimbabwe, averaging 50.33 with two half-centuries. His outstanding performances also earned him the Player of the Series award.

India’s strong presence in the T20I rankings continued with Ishan Kishan retaining the No. 1 batting position despite a slight drop in rating points. Tilak Varma climbed to sixth, while captain Shreyas Iyer moved up seven places to 24th. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi also enjoyed a significant rise, jumping 31 places to 41st in the bowling rankings after an impressive outing against Zimbabwe.

Elsewhere, Namibia spinner Bernard Scholtz entered the top 10 of the ODI bowling rankings following his performances in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. In the Test rankings, West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves and Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas were among the notable gainers after impressive performances in the ongoing Test series.
