Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has taken another significant step in his promising career after being appointed vice-captain of the East Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy. The 15-year-old will serve as deputy to India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who has been named captain of the side for the prestigious domestic red-ball tournament beginning on August 23 in Bengaluru.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s rapid rise
The appointment comes after a remarkable few months for the Bihar youngster. Sooryavanshi recently starred for India during the T20I series in Zimbabwe, where he finished as the Player of the Series with a string of match-winning performances.

His fearless approach, consistency with the bat and ability to perform under pressure have made him one of India’s most exciting young cricketers. The vice-captaincy is a major vote of confidence from the selectors, who believe the teenager is ready to take on leadership responsibilities despite his age.
