On Sunday, thousands of Class 12 CBSE students continued to be left in uncertainty as the board’s portal for verification and re-evaluation remained inaccessible even as it was announced earlier that the portal will be operational from June 1 onwards.
The portal remained inaccessible as students trying to log on received notifications saying the website was undergoing updations. This came at a time when many students awaited the second phase of the examination result revision process.
This move by the CBSE came in wake of its decision to postpone the date of the launch of the website to June 1. The postponement had been decided as the CBSE made efforts to bolster the portal owing to fears surrounding the evaluation process.

Portal delayed after technical strengthening efforts
CBSE had earlier said additional work was being carried out to strengthen the website and ensure a smooth and transparent review process.

Board officials had informed Hindustan Times that technical upgrades were underway and that students would be notified once the portal was ready for use. Despite the assurance, students continued reporting access issues throughout the day, with the website still displaying a maintenance message.
The prolonged delay has increased anxiety among candidates waiting to challenge marks awarded in specific questions following the declaration of Class 12 results.
Who can apply for re-evaluation?
The re-evaluation facility is available only to Class 12 students who have already obtained scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets. Under CBSE’s revised review framework, candidates must identify individual questions where they believe marks were not awarded correctly rather than seeking a blanket reassessment of the entire answer script.
Students are required to compare their answers with the official marking scheme before filing objections. Subject experts will then re-examine the identified responses through the board’s digital On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. Any justified changes in marks will be reflected in revised results.
OSM system remains under scrutiny
This year, the review process has come under greater scrutiny due to reports of scanning issues, marks disparity, and other problems concerning the newly introduced OSM assessment system.
The ministry of education has previously admitted that such discrepancies have occurred but said that it is only fair to take any legitimate complaints into consideration. In turn, CBSE has insisted that teachers have graded answer scripts while digitisation was done to increase transparency and avoid mistakes in calculations.

Furthermore, CBSE officials have also emphasised that attempts are being made to ensure the reliability of the new digital system.
Students recommended to stay tuned
Before the online portal opens, CBSE has recommended students keep checking the Post-Result Activities website to get information on further actions. Students who experience problems have been told to contact the board via tele-counselling and email consultations.
As the portal remains unavailable despite its expected launch date, students are waiting for a new notification from CBSE regarding the starting point of the verification and re-assessment process.
