Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, has had a huge year on streaming. It was already named the most-watched film on OTT in India in Ormax Media’s mid-year report, and now Netflix has confirmed it’s their biggest Indian film globally too.
Netflix released its engagement report for January to June 2026, covering what people watched worldwide. The report highlighted that India had its best-ever six months on Netflix in terms of total viewing.
Among Indian films Netflix has acquired, Dhurandhar topped the list with 37 million views, making it Netflix’s most-watched non-English film overall.
The film is an action thriller about an Indian spy who infiltrates terrorist networks in Pakistan. It stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role, along with R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal.

Netflix India’s top original shows of 2026
When it comes to Netflix India’s own original titles, Accused took the top spot as the most-watched Indian original of 2026 so far, pulling in 19 million views. Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and produced by Karan Johar, this drama deals with the MeToo movement and stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta.
In second place was Made in Korea, with 18 million views. Written and directed by Ra Karthik, this coming-of-age story stars Priyanka Mohan alongside South Korean actors Park Hye-jin and No Ho-jin. It follows a young woman’s journey from a small town in Tamil Nadu to the unfamiliar streets of Seoul.
Third on the list was Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web Season 1, starring Emraan Hashmi, which got 16 million views. Created by Neeraj Pandey, the series is about a team of Indian Customs officers based at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, who take on an international smuggling network.
Netflix’s global top films and shows
On the global film front, War Machine came out on top with 147 million views. It was followed by The RIP with 136 million views, swapped with 131 million, KPop Demon Hunters with 130 million, and Apex with 129 million.
Among series, His and Hers was the most-watched title globally, racking up 104 million views. Next came Bridgerton Season 4 with 100 million views, followed by I Will Find You with 64 million, Stranger Things with 56 million, and Runaway with 50 million.
Netflix also explained how it measures success in this report, not just by total hours watched, but also by how many people a title reaches, counted through views.
The platform revealed that viewers watched over 97 billion hours on Netflix between January and June 2026. This is the highest viewership Netflix has ever recorded for a six-month period, spanning many genres and languages.
