The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stepped up its social media outreach with Gen Z-inspired content following the nationwide attention drawn by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protests over alleged exam irregularities.

The campaign comes after the youth-led movement, which began as a satirical social media initiative, evolved into large-scale demonstrations that culminated in the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

BJP leans into Gen Z language and reel culture

In recent days, the BJP has shared several videos across its social media platforms using internet slang, pop culture references and short-form storytelling aimed at younger audiences.

One of the posts recreates the iconic F.R.I.E.N.D.S. title card while assuring students that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “will be there for you.” The post highlights the government’s response to concerns over examination irregularities and promises stricter measures to improve transparency.

“For this government, the dreams and hard work of India’s youth are the ultimate priority,” the post reads, adding that “no injustice will be tolerated.”

Another video is set inside a gym, where a conversation between young people and an older trainer is filled with Gen Z expressions and English-Hindi internet slang. The discussion shifts from trending phrases to infrastructure development, education and the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.

When one youngster questions why the education minister resigned if the country is in “strong hands”, the trainer replies that the resignation is “not Jantar Mantar’s victory, but democracy’s strength”, adding that the government acted to address concerns so young people could focus on their future.

The video concludes with the message, “Let’s build the country and our bodies together.”

Parliament speech repackaged for social media

The BJP has also reshared excerpts from MP Anurag Thakur’s Lok Sabha speech on alleged examination paper leaks.

The accompanying caption reads, “Gen Z this ones for you” The list was so long… it nearly exhausted the entire Parliament. You know the craziest part? That wasn’t even all of it. There were more”

In the clip, Thakur lists alleged paper leak incidents from previous years while repeatedly asking, “Sarkar kiski thi?” before answering, “Congress ki.”

PM Modi encourages digital engagement with youth

The social media push comes alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent selfie videos and Instagram posts addressing examination reforms during the CJP protests.

According to an NDTV report cited by HT, Modi also advised Union ministers to connect with young audiences through Instagram Reels and interactive sessions.

“Young people are just on Instagram. This is a potential segment of citizens that we all need to connect with,” the report quoted the Prime Minister as saying during a Cabinet meeting.

The reported suggestion came shortly after Modi shared an Instagram post outlining the government’s proposed measures to tackle paper leaks.
