MP tells HC Twisha Sharma suffered injuries before death, seeks bail cancellation

Former model and actor Twisha Sharma, who was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12, was allegedly subjected to cruelty before her death, the Madhya Pradesh government told the High Court.

According to reports, the state said the post-mortem findings showed injuries that may have resulted from “a scuffle or struggle” and argued that the case could not be treated as a straightforward post-death injury claim.

The injuries refuse to tell a tidy story

The government told the court that injuries were found on Twisha’s wrist, elbow, and head and said they were ante-mortem.

It argued that the marks could not have been caused after death or while the body was being taken down, citing the official post-mortem report.

The state’s submission came while the High Court was hearing petitions linked to the anticipatory bail granted to Twisha’s mother-in-law, retired district judge Giribala Singh.

The in-laws come under a harder glare

The state also alleged that Twisha was taunted by her in-laws over dowry-related demands and that they told her the money spent by her family on the wedding was “not enough.”

The government said both Giribala Singh and her son, Samarth Singh, subjected Twisha to cruelty. The accusations formed part of the state’s effort to secure cancellation of Singh’s pre-arrest bail.

Questions over co-operation now enter the frame

Separately, the government has accused Giribala Singh of not cooperating with the probe.

It has also alleged tampering with evidence, including leaking CCTV footage and compromising the crime scene. The High Court has issued notices on the plea challenging the grant of anticipatory bail, keeping the matter under judicial scrutiny as the investigation continues.
