A Class 12 student preparing for the NEET-UG re-examination was found dead at his residence in Ahmedabad’s Tragad area on Thursday morning. Police have initiated a probe and are examining the teenager’s laptop and other details to determine the circumstances leading to his death.
Student found dead at home
A 17-year-old boy preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) re-examination allegedly died by suicide in Ahmedabad’s Tragad area on Thursday morning, reported The Indian Express.
According to police, the teenager was living with his mother and 13-year-old brother in Ahmedabad, while his father, who is an advocate, resides and practises in Surat. The incident occurred just days before the NEET-UG re-test scheduled for June 21.

Police are examining circumstances surrounding the death
Authorities have begun an investigation to establish the circumstances that may have led to the student’s death. As part of the probe, police are examining his laptop and other available evidence for clues.
Officials said they are also recording statements from family members and people close to the teenager. At this stage, investigators have not indicated any definitive reason behind the incident and are continuing to gather information, according to The Indian Express.
Family says there were no study-related concerns
During preliminary questioning, family members reportedly told police that the teenager was generally quiet and reserved in nature.
His uncle informed investigators that the boy was introverted but had not expressed any concerns regarding his studies. According to the family, there were no known issues related to academic performance or examination pressure.
Police are verifying all aspects of the case as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Incident comes ahead of NEET re-examination
The death comes in the lead-up to the NEET-UG re-examination, which is scheduled to be conducted on June 21. The re-test was announced after the cancellation of the earlier examination and has been closely watched by students and parents across the country.
In recent weeks, concerns over stress and uncertainty among aspirants have drawn attention following several reported incidents involving students preparing for the examination.
