Chhattisgarh reports three suspected Ebola cases; foreign nationals quarantined as precaution

Amid a recent rise in Ebola virus cases reported across several parts of Africa, authorities in Chhattisgarh have identified three suspected cases involving foreign nationals and placed them under quarantine as a precautionary measure.

Heath Minister says ‘We’re fully prepared’

According to a report by News18, Chhattisgarh Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that the three individuals, who are currently isolated in Durg, are nationals from African countries. The individuals have been placed under a 21-day quarantine period in line with precautionary health protocols.

“We have been fully prepared across the state at every level for a month now…the three individuals placed in isolation in Durg are nationals from African countries and have been quarantined for 21 days as a precautionary measure. So far, tests have not confirmed the presence of the virus, nor are they exhibiting any symptoms,” Jaiswal said.

The minister stressed that the quarantine measure was being undertaken as a preventive step and clarified that no confirmed Ebola infection had been detected in the three individuals. He also noted that none of them are showing symptoms associated with the virus at present.

Quarantine for foreign nationals

Highlighting the state’s preparedness, Jaiswal said the government has been strengthening its response mechanisms for the past month to ensure readiness in case of any potential health emergency.

He further stated that the government was “fully prepared to handle any potential virus infection” and assured that necessary arrangements had been made across different levels of the healthcare system.

Alongside the update on the suspected Ebola cases, the minister also announced the launch of a new public grievance helpline that will function under the Chief Minister’s office. The initiative is aimed at providing citizens with a platform to raise concerns and seek assistance.

The development comes as health authorities continue to closely monitor international disease outbreaks and implement precautionary measures to prevent any possible spread of infections within the state.
