According to reports cited by News18, the strike took place on a road between Nabatiyeh and Marjayoun. Lebanese authorities said the attack killed a brigadier general, a captain and another soldier. Israel cites suspected Hezbollah threat
The Israeli military acknowledged carrying out the strike, saying it had identified “suspicious movement” linked to intelligence assessments that suggested Hezbollah activity.
Israeli officials maintained that the operation was directed at a potential security threat and not specifically at the Lebanese army. The military said it continues to target Hezbollah positions and operatives rather than Lebanese state institutions.
Lebanese army condemns the attack
The Lebanese army strongly criticised the strike, describing it as a continuation of Israeli aggression. Military officials argued that such attacks undermine efforts to restore stability and threaten ongoing attempts to implement ceasefire arrangements.
