The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has adopted a resolution congratulating the people of West Bengal for what it described as the restoration of democratic values by rejecting “politics of violence, fear and appeasement.”
The resolution was passed unanimously during the one-day meeting of ABVP’s Central Working Committee held at the Education and Research University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The meeting was inaugurated by ABVP National President Prof. Raghuraj Kishore Tiwari, National General Secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki and National Organising Secretary Ashish Chauhan through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Representatives and office-bearers from across the country attended the meeting.

West Bengal resolution takes centre stage
A resolution titled “Congratulations to the People of West Bengal for Restoring Democratic Values by Defeating Politics of Violence, Fear and Appeasement” was adopted during the meeting.
According to ABVP, the proposal acknowledged the public mandate in West Bengal and described it as a step towards re-establishing democratic values in the state.
The issue was highlighted separately during the meeting, where leaders referred to the resolution while discussing contemporary political and social developments.
ABVP discusses national issues, education and youth concerns
Apart from the West Bengal resolution, the meeting featured discussions on the current national situation, education, youth participation, national security, social and economic issues, organisational expansion and contemporary challenges.
Representatives from different parts of the country also deliberated on issues related to education, society, the economy, international developments and youth affairs. ABVP said detailed resolutions on these subjects would be considered at the upcoming National Executive Council meeting.
Several ongoing ABVP campaigns and initiatives were reviewed, including the “Screen Time to Activity Time” campaign, the 150th year of Vande Mataram, the Hostel Survey Campaign, the birth centenary of Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar, 50 years of resistance against the Emergency, the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur and the 650th Prakash Utsav of Sant Ravidas.

‘Education must be rooted in Indian values’
Speaking at the meeting, ABVP National President Prof. Raghuraj Kishore Tiwari said, “Reviewing the work of the previous year and assessing the current situation are crucial for determining the future direction of the organisation. In this process, the Central Working Committee meeting holds special significance. The ‘Vichar Baithaks’ held in Dwarka and Sringeri were important milestones in strengthening the organisational structure in line with contemporary needs.
“The nationwide awareness and intellectual programmes organised during the birth centenary year of Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar have connected activists with his ideals and work culture, providing fresh inspiration that remains highly relevant today. In the field of education, ABVP firmly believes that India’s education system should be rooted in Indian philosophy and values, ensuring a holistic framework for the all-round development of future generations.”
Dr Virendra Singh Solanki reiterates stand on Bengal
Welcoming delegates to the meeting, ABVP National General Secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki referred to the West Bengal resolution while outlining the organisation’s activities across the country.
“At a time when India is progressing towards global leadership, ABVP continues to address challenges ranging from urban Naxalism to inequalities in education through constructive movements and struggles. Whether it is the scholarship movement in Telangana, protests over the NEET paper leak, anti-paper leak campaigns in Mumbai, or innovative initiatives through student unions in Delhi and Punjab universities, ABVP has consistently worked in the interests of students.

“Programmes such as the Tribal Students’ Conference in Tripura, student union initiatives in Odisha, the Law Students’ Conference in Tamil Nadu, and ‘Mission Sahasi’, which has provided self-defence training to more than one million female students across the country, reflect ABVP’s growing acceptance and expansion.
“During this meeting, we also unanimously adopted a resolution congratulating the people of West Bengal for restoring democratic values by ending politics based on violence, fear and appeasement. This meeting will strengthen our spiritual resolve and positive outlook, inspiring us to work with greater dynamism toward nation-building in our respective spheres.”
