Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant has responded to the courtroom disruption in which a petitioner allegedly abused him and threw papers inside the Supreme Court. While addressing the incident, the CJI chose not to escalate the matter and instead stressed the importance of respecting the country’s constitutional institutions.
Speaking about the episode, CJI Surya Kant said, “Arey rahne do… Bacchey aise kayi bar kar dete hein lekin mei yeh kehna chahta hu ki hamein constitutional institutions ki maryada maan sammaan banaye rakhna chahiye ye hum sabka daitwa hein sabko isko nibhana hein (Let it be. Children sometimes do such things, but I want to say that we must maintain the dignity and honour of constitutional institutions. It is the responsibility of all of us, and everyone must fulfil it).”
What happened inside the Supreme Court?
The incident took place during proceedings before a bench comprising Justices KV Viswanathan and Alok Aradhe. The petitioner, identified as Prabal Pratap from Lucknow, appeared in person to present his case.

Dressed in a black coat and white shirt, Pratap began by referring to the judges as “Mr Judicial Servant” and said, “Mr Judicial Servant, I order you to order the registration of the FIR against ACP (assistant commissioner of police), Vikas Nagar, Lucknow and against Duplex Technologies Services Limited.”
His remarks prompted the bench to question him, asking, “Are you ordering us?” However, he did not respond directly and continued with his submissions before the court.
Petitioner levels cybercrime allegations
During the hearing, Pratap alleged that Duplex Technologies Services Limited was involved in illegal activities across the country.
“Duplex Technologies is running a cyber crime syndicate across the country,” he claimed before concluding his arguments by saying, “This is all from my side. Everything is on record.”
Soon after making those remarks, the petitioner allegedly threw a bundle of documents into the air and used offensive language against the Chief Justice.

Security intervenes, court later lets him go
Security personnel stationed inside the courtroom immediately stepped in and escorted Pratap out. He was subsequently detained by the Delhi Police.
The Supreme Court later took note of what it described as his apparently “incoherent” behaviour. Instead of initiating further proceedings against him, the court allowed him to leave.
The incident has since drawn attention because of CJI Surya Kant’s measured response, with the Chief Justice choosing to emphasise respect for constitutional institutions over the alleged personal abuse directed at him.
