Delhi Police has made it clear that the proposed CJP’s Parliament march on July 20 will not be allowed, citing concerns over security, public order, and traffic management in the high-security Parliament area. The announcement comes a day after activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted from Jantar Mantar to Safdarjung Hospital, intensifying tensions between the authorities and the Cockroach Janata Party. While the police maintain the protest has exceeded its original permission, CJP leaders insist they had already informed officials about their plans to march to Parliament.
Delhi Police says CJP Parliament march lacks permission
Hindustan Times noted that senior Delhi Police officials said CJP’s Parliament march has not received formal approval. Authorities claim that the organisers were originally granted permission to protest at Jantar Mantar for only one day and later continued the agitation without obtaining fresh clearance.
Delhi Police officials also stated that the planned march would not be permitted because it could disrupt law and order, create traffic congestion and pose security concerns around Parliament. They warned that any attempt to proceed with the CJP’s Parliament march could result in detentions if protesters entered restricted areas.
The CJP has rejected these claims. Party spokesperson Vaishnavi Gaur said organisers had informed the police about the proposed march, even though the communication was not submitted in writing. She alleged that authorities had already decided not to allow the demonstration.

Security tightened ahead of CJP Parliament march
The Delhi Police has significantly strengthened security arrangements around Jantar Mantar in anticipation of the CJP Parliament march. More than 100 personnel, along with Rapid Action Force teams, have been deployed near the protest venue, with additional forces expected before Monday.
Officials confirmed that hundreds of police personnel and extra police vehicles would remain on standby to prevent protesters from moving towards Parliament. Authorities said security measures were reviewed during multiple meetings chaired by senior officers following recent developments at the protest site.
The police also denied allegations that protesters were assaulted or that electricity was disconnected during the operation to shift Sonam Wangchuk to Safdarjung Hospital.
Political tensions rise over CJP Parliament march
The proposed CJP Parliament march has become the latest flashpoint in the ongoing protest over alleged irregularities in national entrance examinations, including NEET-UG. CJP supporters argue that the movement has gained public support and should be allowed to continue peacefully.
Police, however, maintain that all actions taken so far have been based on medical advice, legal directions and security requirements. They insist the protest cannot be allowed to expand into a march through one of the country’s most sensitive administrative zones.
With both sides refusing to back down, the CJP Parliament march is expected to remain at the centre of political attention as authorities prepare for Monday’s planned demonstration.
