Indian-origin entrepreneur Aman Sanger joins billionaire club after SpaceX’s $60 billion Cursor deal

Elon Musk’s SpaceX has struck a massive $60 billion deal to acquire Anysphere, the parent company behind AI coding platform Cursor, creating several young billionaires in the process, including Indian-origin entrepreneur Aman Sanger.

The acquisition marks one of the biggest deals in the artificial intelligence sector this year and further strengthens Musk’s ambitions in the rapidly evolving AI race.

Founded in 2022, Cursor has become one of the fastest-growing AI software companies globally by helping developers write code using artificial intelligence.

Aman Sanger among the biggest winners

According to NDTV, Aman Sanger, 25, currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Anysphere and is one of the four co-founders behind Cursor.

The founding team also includes Pakistan-origin Sualeh Asif, who serves as Chief Product Officer, alongside Michael Truell and Arvid Lunnemarc.

Each founder reportedly owns about 4.5 per cent of the company.

Following the acquisition, the estimated net worth of all four founders is expected to rise to approximately $2.7 billion each, according to Forbes estimates.

The deal also generated massive returns for investors, with Andreessen Horowitz’s stake now valued at nearly $6 billion, while Thrive Capital’s investment is estimated to be worth around $4.2 billion.

Cursor’s explosive growth fuelled the acquisition

According to NDTV, Cursor has rapidly emerged as a major player in AI-assisted software development.

Its revenues reportedly surged from an annualised $2 billion in February to over $4 billion by June.

One of its biggest breakthroughs has been Cloud Agents, a feature that allows AI systems to independently work on complex coding tasks in the background for several hours.

The technology has attracted developers and enterprises looking to speed up software development while reducing manual workloads.

SpaceX and Cursor deepen AI ambitions

The relationship between the two companies began earlier this year.

NDTV suggests SpaceX secured acquisition rights in April and committed significant computing resources to finalise the agreement.

The two companies have already been collaborating on a new AI model that could eventually power both Cursor’s coding platform and Grok, the AI chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s xAI.

The acquisition also highlights the growing overlap between aerospace, artificial intelligence and software development as Musk continues to expand his technological ecosystem beyond electric vehicles and space exploration.
