PM Modi said the government’s immediate priority was ensuring that students did not lose an academic year because of the disruption. He stated that examinations for nearly 22 lakh students were conducted within a short period using all available administrative resources. The results, he added, were declared on July 19, allowing successful candidates to move forward with their academic plans.

PM Modi’s message on the paper leak stressed that conducting the examinations was only the first step and that long-term legal reforms were equally necessary.

Fast-track court proposal to reach Parliament soon

PM Modi revealed that he had directed government departments to prepare a draft law to establish fast-track courts and impose harsher penalties for those involved in examination fraud.

According to PM Modi, officials completed the draft late on Wednesday night. He said the proposal would be placed before the Union Cabinet for discussion and refinement before being introduced during the second week of the ongoing Parliament session.

The proposed legislation, he explained, is intended to ensure that cases involving paper leaks are investigated and prosecuted more quickly while creating stronger deterrents against organised examination malpractice. The paper leak prevention proposal is expected to become a key legislative priority in the coming days.

Government seeks to restore confidence in examinations

The Prime Minister said reports of successful candidates celebrating their results were arriving from across the country but insisted that the government was not satisfied with merely completing the examination process.

He maintained that restoring public confidence in competitive examinations requires stronger institutions and stricter laws. PM said it is aimed at protecting the future of students and ensuring that honest candidates are not disadvantaged by organised fraud.

The proposed bill is expected to be closely watched by students, educational institutions, and policymakers, as it could become one of the most significant reforms to India’s examination system in recent years.
