A simmering rivalry in Patna’s highly competitive coaching industry has come under the spotlight after three people, including the head of a coaching institute, were arrested for allegedly attacking the coaching centre run by educator Faisal Khan.
The incident took place on Tuesday night in the Kadamkuan area of Patna, triggering panic among students and staff. A security guard was injured during the violence, while the episode prompted large gatherings of students demanding action against those responsible.
Police have identified the arrested individuals as Roshan Anand, along with Prince Gaurav and Abhishek. All three were produced before a local court and subsequently sent to judicial custody.
Attack sparks chaos outside coaching centre
According to Khan Sir, classes were underway when the disturbance erupted outside the premises. He claimed that attackers vandalised property, assaulted the security guard and created panic among those present.
Speaking about the incident, Khan said neither teachers nor students initially understood the nature of the commotion. He further alleged that several rounds of firing took place during the attack.
Police, however, have disputed the claim regarding gunfire. Investigators maintain that the injured guard sustained wounds during stone-pelting and brick-batting rather than from any firearm-related incident.
The exact sequence of events remains under investigation as authorities continue to collect evidence and statements from witnesses.

Coaching rivalry emerges as key angle
Investigators believe competition between coaching institutes may have played a significant role in the clash. Officials are examining whether longstanding tensions between rival educational establishments escalated into violence.
Patna City Superintendent of Police Diksha said CCTV footage from the area is being scrutinised. She added that around 10 to 12 suspects have already been identified during the preliminary investigation.
Police officials have not yet disclosed a clear motive but indicated that professional rivalry remains one of the strongest leads being pursued.

Students demand accountability
The attack triggered anger among students, many of whom gathered outside the coaching centre demanding stronger security measures and swift punishment for those involved.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police K Sharma confirmed that the case was being treated as a physical assault in which a security guard suffered injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
The incident also drew political attention, with Sanjay Kumar Jha assuring students that authorities would act firmly against those responsible.
