The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has announced the notification for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026. The application process will begin on March 27, and interested candidates can apply through the official website.
The last date to complete registration and fee payment is April 26, while corrections in application forms can be made until May 1, 2026.
Important dates and exam schedule
Candidates will be informed about their exam city on June 22, and admit cards will be released on June 30. The UPTET 2026 examination is scheduled to be conducted on July 2, 3, and 4.
The test is held to determine eligibility for assistant teacher posts in primary (Classes 1 to 5) and upper primary (Classes 6 to 8) schools. If the number of applicants is high, the exam may be conducted over multiple days.

Exam pattern and qualifying marks
For both primary and upper primary levels, the exam will consist of 150 multiple-choice questions. Each paper will cover five subjects: Child Development and Teaching Methods, Language I (Hindi), Language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies, with 30 questions from each section.
To qualify, candidates from the General category must score at least 60 percent (90 out of 150). For SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Freedom Fighter Dependents, Ex-Servicemen and PwD categories, the minimum required is 55 percent (82 out of 150).

Eligibility, fees and application process
Eligibility varies based on the level applied for. For Classes 1 to 5, candidates must have qualifications such as D.El.Ed, BTC, D.Ed, B.El.Ed, or equivalent recognised training, along with minimum academic requirements. For Classes 6 to 8, candidates need a graduation or postgraduation degree along with B.Ed or equivalent teaching qualifications as per NCTE norms.
The application fee is Rs 1,000 for General, EWS and OBC candidates. SC and ST candidates need to pay Rs 500, while PwD candidates will pay Rs 300 for both papers.
To apply, candidates must first complete the One-Time Registration (OTR).
Then log in using their credentials.
Fill in the application form and submit it online.
The commission has also clarified that OMR answer sheets will be evaluated through a computerised system.
Any incorrect or incomplete details, such as wrong registration numbers or missing booklet information, will lead to rejection of the answer sheet, and no claims will be entertained.
