The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced its 2026 Summer Internship Program. The internship is open to students from all fields, both technical and non-technical.
Those wishing to secure a spot must complete their registration online before April 15, 2026. The application requires candidates to furnish personal and academic information.

Students can choose their preferred work locations if applicable. Each applicant’s college or university must verify and approve their submission on the portal.

Spanning a total of six weeks, the internship is pencilled in to begin on May 4, 2026, and wrap up by July 5, 2026, though these dates remain tentative. Depending on project requirements, interns may be posted at any of NHAI’s field offices spread across the country or, alternatively, at its central headquarters located in New Delhi. Senior NHAI professionals will oversee and mentor each intern during their tenure.
Every intern who is selected will draw a monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000 throughout the six weeks. Those who see the program through to its end will also walk away with a formal certificate of completion -adding both financial backing and professional credibility to the experience.
The program focuses on practical, hands-on experience. Interns will work in real highway projects instead of simulated tasks. It gives students a rare chance to see how India’s national highways are built and managed.

Streams and disciplines details
A wide academic net has been cast for this program. Engineering students from Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation, and Computer Science or IT backgrounds are covered. So are those specialising in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Equally noteworthy is the inclusion of non-engineering disciplines. Students studying Law (BA LLB), pursuing degrees in Commerce or Science (BA/B.Com/B.Sc), enrolled in management programs (MBA in HR, Finance, or Marketing), or studying Mass Communication and Library Science are all eligible. This move beyond only technical fields shows a clear effort to attract students from different academic backgrounds.
