India’s scheduled white-ball tour of Bangladesh is once again facing uncertainty, with fresh concerns emerging over whether the six-match series will go ahead as planned. While there had been optimism in recent weeks, delays in key administrative processes have cast fresh doubt on the tour.

Media rights process put the Bangladesh tour on hold

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had invited bids for the television and digital media rights for the India series earlier this month, with the bidding process expected to conclude on July 22. However, the board has not yet issued the Expression of Interest (EoI) documents required for broadcasters to submit their bids.

The unexpected delay has left broadcasters and stakeholders uncertain about the status of the series. The BCB has reportedly paused the media rights process until there is greater clarity over the tour.

Government clearance yet to arrive

According to Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still waiting for approval from the Indian government before giving the green light for the tour. Without that clearance, the series cannot be officially confirmed.

Earlier, Bangladesh officials had expressed confidence that India would travel for the scheduled three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals. Preparations had also begun, raising hopes that the series would proceed without any issues.

However, the latest developments suggest that both cricket boards are still waiting for the necessary approvals before making any formal announcement.

The India-Bangladesh white-ball series remains part of the Future Tours Programme, but its immediate future now depends on the pending government clearance. Until that approval is received, the BCB is unlikely to move ahead with commercial activities, including the sale of broadcast rights.

As of now, neither the BCCI nor the BCB has officially announced a postponement or cancellation of the tour. However, the delay in the approval process has once again created uncertainty over India’s visit to Bangladesh, with both boards expected to wait for further clarity before confirming the schedule.
