Ahead of their final group-stage match against Ecuador in New Jersey, members of the German squad agreed to cover the travel expenses of 600 fans, ensuring they can attend the crucial fixture without bearing the full financial burden themselves.

According to India Today, the decision was driven by concerns over the soaring costs associated with travelling between World Cup venues in the United States. Unlike more compact tournaments of the past, the 2026 World Cup stretches across three countries and multiple time zones, forcing supporters to spend heavily on transportation.
Recognising the challenge, senior figures within the squad, led by captain Joshua Kimmich, reportedly backed the idea of helping supporters make the journey to New Jersey.
The initiative will fund bus travel for hundreds of German fans, allowing them to be present in large numbers as Germany seeks to secure its place in the knockout stages.

As a result, fan groups across several countries have voiced concerns that attending the tournament is becoming increasingly difficult for ordinary supporters.
