Neymar set for return as Brazil receive major boost before Scotland clash

Brazil have received a timely boost ahead of their final FIFA World Cup 2026 Group C match against Scotland, with head coach Carlo Ancelotti confirming that Neymar is expected to be available for selection.

The veteran forward has missed Brazil’s first two World Cup matches after suffering a calf injury while playing for Santos in May. He sat out the 1-1 draw against Morocco and the 3-0 victory over Haiti as he continued his recovery.

Ancelotti said Neymar’s rehabilitation is progressing well and that the 34-year-old is set to return to full training before the Scotland fixture. His availability comes at a crucial stage of the tournament, with Brazil aiming to secure a place in the knockout rounds.

Neymar set for return

Brazil currently lead Group C with four points from two matches, level with Morocco but ahead on goal difference. Scotland sit on three points and must produce a strong performance in their final group game to keep their hopes alive.

Neymar’s return would add experience and creativity to Brazil’s attack. The forward remains the nation’s all-time leading scorer and has often delivered in major tournaments.

Brazil are also keeping an eye on winger Raphinha, who picked up a hamstring concern during the win over Haiti. Neymar’s return could therefore provide an additional attacking option for Ancelotti.

Brazil building momentum

The five-time world champions bounced back strongly after their opening draw against Morocco. A convincing 3-0 win over Haiti saw Matheus Cunha score twice, while Vinicius Junior also found the net.

The result boosted confidence within the squad and put Brazil in a strong position heading into their final group-stage match.

With qualification to the knockout rounds still to be secured, Neymar’s expected return could be a major advantage. Brazil will hope their star forward can make an immediate impact as they prepare for a decisive encounter against Scotland.

The match is expected to play a key role in determining the final standings in Group C, with both teams still having plenty to play for.
