Electric vehicle giant Tesla has reportedly expressed interest in establishing a sales and service centre in Hyderabad, marking another important step in the company’s India expansion plans. According to reports, representatives from Tesla India recently held discussions with Telangana government officials regarding the proposed operations in the city.

The development comes as Tesla continues strengthening its presence in India following the launch of its initial showrooms and customer operations in the country.

Tesla eyes Hyderabad expansion

Reports of NDTVprofit stated that Tesla India representatives met Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu to discuss the company’s plans for Hyderabad. During the meeting, Tesla reportedly conveyed its interest in launching a dedicated sales and service facility in the city.

The Telangana government also highlighted Hyderabad’s growing ecosystem for electric vehicles, semiconductor design, automobile software, and advanced technology sectors.

As per NDTVprofit, officials reportedly welcomed Tesla’s decision to consider Hyderabad as part of its next phase of expansion in India.

Why Hyderabad matters for Tesla

Hyderabad has increasingly emerged as a major technology and manufacturing hub, attracting investments in electric mobility, electronics, and software sectors. Reports noted that the city’s infrastructure and technology ecosystem could support Tesla’s long-term plans in India.

The proposed centre is expected to provide both vehicle sales and after-sales services, helping Tesla expand customer support operations beyond its existing locations.

According to the report sof NDTVprofit, authorities also encouraged Tesla to explore opportunities related to ancillary industries and advanced manufacturing investments in Telangana.
