A product manager based in Bengaluru has shared a heartwarming story about a Blinkit delivery partner who turned down a tip, explaining that good ratings mattered more to him than the extra cash.
The wrong address mix up
In a LinkedIn post, Mansi Sharma explained that she had accidentally sent her Blinkit order to the wrong address, since an old location was still saved in the app.
“I sent my Blinkit order to the wrong address. The delivery partner taught me something my MBA didn’t. I checked out. Felt accomplished. Closed the app,” she wrote.

Realising the mistake
According to Hindustan Times, Sharma said she got a call from the delivery partner, who told her no one was opening the gate.
At first she assumed he had reached her home, but checking the app showed the order had gone to an address about three kilometres away. “My husband’s friend’s location was saved. We never noticed,” she wrote.
The delivery partner’s response
Sharma said she apologised and asked if he could bring the order to her real address instead. She shared that he agreed right away, drove the extra distance, and delivered the package with a smile.
Refusing the tip
Feeling bad about the trouble she had caused, Sharma offered him an extra 100 rupees. He politely turned it down.
“Didi rehne do. Last month mera rating 4.2 tha. Extra mile jaata hoon toh 4.8 ho jaata hai. Yahi meri appraisal hai,” he told her.
A lesson in performance
Reflecting on the moment, Sharma wrote, “I have an MBA. He understood performance metrics better than most managers I know.”
How people reacted online
The post struck a chord with many LinkedIn users, who praised the delivery partner’s mindset. One user wrote, “The interesting part is that incentives shape behavior far more than titles do.
For him, going the extra mile wasn’t about customer service. It was a direct investment in the metric that determined his future. The best operators understand this instinctively.”
Another commented, “The delivery person taught us more than a book or a degree ever could. Maybe he does not even hold a MBA degree but knows more than a one having the degree would.”
A third user simply wrote, “Some people teach us more than a degree ever could.”
