The spell of cooler weather that brought much-needed relief across parts of West Bengal may not last much longer. After several days of rain-driven comfort, temperatures are expected to inch upward once again, raising the possibility of warmer conditions across South Bengal in the coming days.
According to the weather department, recent rainfall helped bring down temperatures noticeably across the region. However, a gradual rise in daytime temperatures is likely to begin from Sunday, signalling a shift in weather patterns as June gets underway.

Kolkata starts the day under bright sunshine
Residents of Kolkata woke up to clear skies and strong sunshine on Sunday morning. While some clouds may develop later in the day, the likelihood of rainfall in the city remains low.
The city’s minimum temperature was recorded at 25.2 degrees Celsius, which is 2.6 degrees below the seasonal average. The maximum temperature is expected to touch 33.3 degrees Celsius, staying 1.8 degrees below normal.
Light showers likely in parts of South Bengal
Though widespread rain is not expected, a few districts in South Bengal could witness brief spells of light rain during the afternoon or evening hours.

Areas where isolated showers are likely include Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, Purba Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, Birbhum and Murshidabad.
Weather officials have also indicated that temperatures across South Bengal are likely to rise more noticeably from Monday onward, which could make conditions feel warmer after the recent cool spell.
Rainfall expected to reduce in North Bengal
North Bengal is also likely to see a decline in rainfall activity from Sunday. However, this break may be temporary.
Forecasts suggest that another round of rain could return to the region from Tuesday. Among the districts, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri are expected to have a higher chance of receiving rainfall during the upcoming spell.

Warmer start to June on the cards
With rainfall activity reducing across large parts of the state and temperatures showing signs of recovery, the first week of June could begin on a warmer note, particularly in South Bengal. While a few districts may continue to receive isolated showers, the recent stretch of relatively cool weather appears to be gradually giving way to rising temperatures.
