Trinamool Congress Member of Parliament Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar resigned from all organisational posts in the party on Wednesday, citing concerns over the party’s internal functioning, leadership response, and recent controversies in West Bengal.
Despite stepping down from party responsibilities, Dastidar said she would continue as a Member of Parliament and remain associated with the party as an ordinary worker.
Her resignation came days after she publicly expressed disappointment with the party leadership and stayed away from several important organisational programmes.

Resignation letter cites ‘mental conflict’
In her resignation letter, Dastidar said the decision came after “deep mental conflict and long reflection”.
“I am sincerely grateful for the honour, responsibility, and opportunity to work alongside the people that the All India Trinamool Congress has given me in my long political life,” she wrote.
Dastidar, who earlier served as president of the Trinamool Congress’s women’s wing, described the role as “an important chapter” in her political career.
“But with great sadness and concern, I am requesting to resign from the post of Chairperson of All India Trinamool Mahila Congress along with other organisational posts, committees, and responsibilities of the party,” the letter stated.
Dastidar had also attended an administrative meeting chaired by Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday despite objections from the TMC leadership, Hindustan Times reported.

Concerns over corruption, party culture, and RG Kar case
Dastidar also raised concerns over alleged corruption and the internal culture within the party.
“My conscience is deeply stirred today, several financial and administrative irregularities including ration corruption, teacher recruitment corruption have given rise to deep anger and distrust in the minds of the common people,” she wrote.
Referring to the RG Kar Medical College controversy, she said, “…the tragic death of PGT doctor Abhaya at RG Kar Medical College and the allegations of a possible cover-up surrounding that incident have hurt and shocked the entire society”.
She also mentioned allegations regarding I-PAC (Indian Political Action Committee) and criticised what she called an “opaque and undemocratic influence” within the organisation.
However, Dastidar clarified that the move was not driven by personal resentment.
“I want to make it clear that I am taking this decision not out of any personal anger or pride, but out of my moral responsibility towards the party, democracy, and public life,” she wrote.
