Uttarpara BJP MLA Dipanjan Chakraborty appealed to residents of Uttarpara, Konnagar and Hindmotor to come forward with evidence-backed complaints against alleged corruption and illegal activities, asserting that the administration would pursue legal action wherever possible. He also claimed that those involved in corruption would not be spared under the new government.
‘Come forward with evidence, we will take action’
Chakraborty said that he had witnessed the difficulties faced by residents over the past three months but expressed concern that people were still hesitant to formally lodge complaints.
“I have understood the pain of the people. I have been watching it for the past three months. But the problem is that no one is writing complaints to me, even now. Perhaps the fear of Dilip Yadhav remains in people’s minds,” he said.

The BJP MLA urged residents across Uttarpara, Konnagar and Hindmotor to approach him with documentary or other credible evidence if they had been affected by alleged irregularities.
“If you have a complaint and even a single piece of evidence, come to us. We will collect the remaining evidence, file cases wherever necessary and do everything possible within the limits of the law. We will not leave anyone,” Chakraborty said.
Claims corruption accused fear legal action
Speaking about allegations of widespread illegal construction in Uttarpara, Konnagar and Hindmotor, Chakraborty claimed that those accused of corruption were now worried about facing legal consequences.
“They have realised that under this new government they will not escape the crimes and corruption they have committed. They have seen senior leaders go to jail, and now they know action can be taken against them as well,” he claimed.
Focus on civic services during monsoon and Durga Puja
Chakraborty said the administration’s immediate priority was ensuring uninterrupted civic services during the monsoon season and ahead of Durga Puja.
He said administrators had already been appointed after discussions with the district administration and the concerned department.
“The situation has two aspects. First, the monsoon has arrived and Durga Puja is approaching. The condition of the urban infrastructure and water drainage system is a matter of concern. We will work with the administrators to ensure civic services are delivered properly to the people,” he said.
Residents asked to report illegal construction
The MLA alleged that illegal construction had taken place in Uttarpara, Konnagar and Hindmotor, but stressed that legal action would require formal complaints from affected residents.
“Everyone has heard allegations of unlawful construction. There is no doubt that such allegations exist. But people have to come forward and tell us where illegal construction has taken place, whose land has been encroached upon or where forcible land acquisition has occurred. I have heard many such allegations, but I cannot act merely on hearsay,” he said.
He appealed to those who had allegedly suffered due to such activities to submit complaints so authorities could initiate action through legal channels.
‘No one involved in corruption will be spared’
Reiterating his stand against corruption, Chakraborty said that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found guilty after due process.

“I have said this many times. We all know there have been allegations of large-scale unlawful construction. I will take the help of the law and send those responsible to jail,” he said.
The BJP MLA also alleged that councillors and former municipal chairpersons had amassed wealth through corruption over the years.
“Those who have earned crores through corruption over the years, whether councillors or former municipal chairpersons, will face action,” he said.
Internal, external and government audits to begin
Chakraborty further announced that multiple audits would be initiated to examine alleged financial irregularities.
“Internal audit, external audit and government audit will all begin soon. Whatever action is possible within the law, I will ensure it is taken. I will not spare anyone found guilty,” he said.
