US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said the interim accord reached with Iran was “not final” and suggested Washington could return to military action if he was dissatisfied with Tehran’s conduct.
Speaking on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains, France, Trump said, “If they don’t behave,” the United States would go “back to shooting” and “dropping bombs,” underscoring the fragility of the deal even as it moved toward formal signing.

The ink is drying, not settled
Trump described the arrangement as a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and said it did not include immediate sanctions relief for Iran.
He praised the framework negotiated by his administration, calling it a “very strong deal” and saying markets appeared to welcome it. Reuters relayed that he also argued the agreement could help avoid a wider economic shock, while oil prices hovered near a three-month low on expectations that easing tensions could lower supply risks further.
Applause in the salon, caution in the corridor
The G7 leaders, meeting in the French resort town, backed the interim accord while also calling for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and for energy supply routes to be diversified away from the Strait of Hormuz.
The memorandum signed by Washington and Tehran extends the April ceasefire by 60 days to allow negotiations on a permanent truce, with a signing ceremony expected across the Swiss border on Friday.
The leaders said the talks should ensure Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon.

Peace, perhaps; certainty, not quite
The ceasefire leaves several major questions unresolved, including the fate of Iran’s near-bomb-grade uranium stockpile, its ballistic missile program, and its support for allied militias in the region.
Trump’s earlier wartime objectives remain only partly met, with Iran’s government still in place and the broader regional fallout, including the conflict in Lebanon, still unsettled.
The deal’s next steps, including how any uranium transfer or destruction would be handled, remain unclear.
