Noida Airport aims to start international flights by end of 2026, says CEO Nitu Samra

Noida International Airport is preparing for the next phase of its expansion after commencing domestic operations. Interim CEO Nitu Samra has said the airport is targeting the start of international flights before the end of the year while steadily increasing passenger traffic and airline partnerships.

International flights targeted by year-end

Speaking during an interview with Hindustan Times, Samra said the airport expects to begin international operations by the end of 2026. The airport started commercial domestic services on June 15, with airlines gradually building their networks from the new aviation hub in Jewar.

According to Samra, the airport’s immediate focus is on ensuring a smooth rollout of domestic operations before expanding to overseas routes. International connectivity is expected to be introduced in phases as regulatory approvals, airline plans and operational requirements fall into place, as per Hindudstan Times.

Domestic operations begin with major carriers

Commercial services at Noida International Airport commenced with IndiGo operating the inaugural flight, while Akasa Air and Air India Express were also expected to start services from the airport. Officials have described the launch as a major milestone for aviation infrastructure in the National Capital Region.

The airport has been designed to handle growing passenger demand and improve regional connectivity. In its first phase, it is expected to serve millions of passengers annually while supporting cargo movement and economic activity across Uttar Pradesh and the NCR.

Focus on connectivity and expansion

Airport authorities are also working on strengthening access to the facility through multiple transport options. While road connectivity is currently the primary mode of access, plans for wider multimodal links are part of the long-term strategy. Officials have stressed that passengers across different budget segments should have convenient travel options to and from the airport.

Samra, who was appointed interim CEO earlier this year, said the airport’s development roadmap includes scaling up operations, attracting more airlines and establishing international services as the next major milestone.

Building a new aviation gateway

The airport is being positioned as a key aviation gateway for northern India, complementing Delhi’s existing air infrastructure. With domestic services now underway and international operations on the horizon, the focus remains on a phased expansion aimed at supporting passenger growth, trade and tourism in the region.
