Christopher Nolan’s latest directorial venture, The Odyssey, has made a strong start at the Indian box office, earning an estimated ₹17.40 crore nett across all languages on its opening day. According to trade portal Sacnilk, the film’s gross collection stood at approximately ₹20.76 crore, placing it among the biggest Hollywood openers in India.

Released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, the fantasy epic witnessed its strongest response in the English version.

How did The Odyssey perform on Day 1?

According to Sacnilk, The Odyssey collected around ₹17.40 crore nett from 8,413 shows across India on Friday.

The English-language version contributed the lion’s share of the earnings with an estimated ₹13.75 crore nett. Among the dubbed versions, the Hindi release earned approximately ₹1.90 crore, followed by ₹1.10 crore from Telugu and around ₹65 lakh from Tamil.

The film also recorded an overall 48.7% theatre occupancy on its opening day.

With this performance, The Odyssey has entered the list of India’s biggest Hollywood openers. However, it remains behind Avatar: Fire and Ash, which opened at around ₹18 crore nett, and Deadpool & Wolverine, which collected an estimated ₹21 crore nett on Day 1.

The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope and Robert Pattinson as Antinous. The ensemble cast also includes Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Himesh Patel, John Leguizamo and Mia Goth.
