Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s first film after coming to power, Jana Nayagan will be hitting thatres on July 23.
However, despite a ₹190 cap set by the Government on ticket prices, theatres around the state sold tickets in illegally high prices, causing chaos and dissent among fans.
Fan’s video shows the incident
A video, initially posted by News Arena India, has circulated online, claiming it was from Namakkal, depicts fans and theatre management arguing outside the cinema hall.
One fan also claimed that ticket prices went up to ₹300 in that theatre. Some theatres are also selling the tickets at ₹500 and more.

In the video, fans can be seen arguing, “Who has allowed you to sell tickets at ₹300?” and also adding, “Call up the CM’s office and ask if you can sell it for ₹300.” The management told them that the price was set by the distributors before they left.
Fans urge CM to take action
Fans, who were shocked, urged CM Vijay to take strict action regarding the hiked prices. One fan on X wrote, “CM Sir, the 150-rupee ticket is being sold for 500 rupees. If this is the situation even for your movie… Please look into this matter. Take strict action.”
Another fan added, “Let us report this corruption to our CMO’s whatsapp number. Imagine if they can do this for his own movies, what all they will do for things where he isn’t a part of.”
“Bro, in Anna’s rule, they’ve wiped out bribes in all government offices. But for the movie Jana Nayagan that Anna acted in, we can’t even buy tickets without paying a bribe,” commented another.
