Punjab FC have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL) season by securing the signatures of forward Gurkirat Singh and defender Nischal Chandan. Both players have signed two-year contracts that will keep them at the club until May 31, 2028, as the Shers continue to strengthen their squad for the new campaign.
Gurkirat Singh adds pace and attacking quality
Gurkirat’s arrival is expected to inject pace, creativity and versatility into Punjab FC’s frontline. Known for his technical ability, quick movement and finishing skills, the young forward is set to provide another attacking option for the club.

A Chandigarh native and a product of the AIFF Elite Academy, Gurkirat began his senior career with Indian Arrows, making 18 I-League appearances and scoring once between 2018 and 2021. He then joined Mumbai City FC, where he gained valuable experience in both the Indian Super League and AFC Champions League, featuring in 28 matches and scoring one goal from 2021 to 2024. Before moving to Punjab FC, he represented Chennaiyin FC, making 15 appearances during the 2024-26 seasons.

After completing his move, Gurkirat said he was delighted to join Punjab FC and become part of the club’s ambitious project. He praised the team’s steady growth since its promotion to the ISL and expressed his determination to contribute on the pitch, help the club achieve its objectives and give the fans plenty to cheer about over the next two seasons.
Nischal Chandan returns to strengthen defence
Punjab FC have also reinforced their backline with the return of centre-back Nischal Chandan, who is known for his strength in aerial duels, defensive awareness and ability to organise the backline.

Nischal started his football journey with Minerva Academy, where he won the Under-18 I-League North Zone title. The Chandigarh-born defender made his senior debut for Punjab FC in the I-League Second Division during the 2020-21 season before moving to Sudeva Delhi FC, where he captained the side in the I-League. He later joined Churchill Brothers, making 19 appearances and scoring once, before spending the 2025-26 campaign with Inter Kashi, where he featured in nine matches. His latest move marks a return to Punjab FC.

Speaking after signing, Nischal described Punjab FC as a club with a clear long-term vision and said he was proud to wear the club’s colours once again. He added that he is eager to work hard during pre-season, connect with the supporters and play his part in helping the team keep clean sheets and secure important victories.
