A Delhi Police constable allegedly shot his wife over a domestic dispute, before fleeing from the spot. The wife, in critical condition, died afterwards.

How did the incident unfold?
News 18 reported that the constable, identified as Manish Bhati, married his wife Priyanka three years ago and their marriage was full of domestic disputes. The constable allegedly shot his wife dead over an ongoing domestic dispute near a Trilokpuri-Sanjay Lake Metro Station pillar in the Kalyanpuri area, while travelling on a scooter early Monday, July 13.
Investigators told CNN-News18 that Bhati was posted with the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in East Delhi. Locals, upon noticing the woman in critical condition, rushed her to the Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital, after which she succumbed to the injuries.
Evidence and investigation
Times of India noted that investigators recovered the CCTV footage from the area which depicted the couple stopping the scooter on the roadside and engaging in a heated argument.
Sources said that, “The CCTV footage shows the couple stopping their scooter and stepping off their vehicle. They appeared to be arguing when the constable allegedly took out his service pistol and shot his wife.”
Police and forensics team rushed to the spot to gather evidence and currently, investigators are trying to identify the circumstances leading to the incident. Police are also questioning family members and other persons known to the couple.
A case has been registered and the investigation continues.
