The Centre has appealed to opposition parties to ensure the smooth functioning of the Sansad and support the legislative business listed for the Parliament Monsoon Session.
After the all-party meeting attended by leaders from multiple political parties, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju urged MPs to participate constructively.
“People of the country want Parliament to function smoothly. We also want this. By protesting, no one is going to benefit politically. I request members of all political parties to take part in the proceedings wholeheartedly,” Rijiju said.
He also clarified that while several Bills are scheduled for discussion, the government is not likely to introduce the Delimitation Bill during this session. If any additional legislation is proposed, it will first be discussed in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), he said.
