Howrah–Tarakeshwar trains hit for 3 hours, commuters stranded: Here’s what railways says

Train services were disrupted on the Howrah-Tarakeshwar line at seven in the morning on Wednesday. Train movement was hampered on the down line due to a problem with a train’s pantograph, according to reports.

Regular commuters faced difficulties as train services were disrupted for nearly three hours. Railway officials reached the spot after receiving information. According to the latest reports, train services have resumed on the down line.

Commuters stranded for hours

Railway sources said that a down train’s pantograph developed problems near gate number 13 close to Singur. Trains stood stranded one after another at various stations.

School and college students, and office commuters faced problems due to the suspension of train services. One passenger said, “I have to go to Konnagar. I have been waiting at the station for almost an hour. I am sitting at the station, but no train has come.”

Rail passenger Prantik Bandyopadhyay said, “I have been sitting at the station from 5:10 in the morning till eight forty. But no train has come yet. I have to go to Bandel. But I cannot go as no train is coming. There are problems with train movement on the down line. Problems occurred near Nalikul and Deyara.”

Eastern Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Shibram Majhi said, “There were problems with train movement on the Howrah-Tarakeshwar branch. There was a pantograph problem near railway gate number 13 at Singur. It has been fixed now.”
