Flight operations in the national capital were affected on Monday as rain and thunderstorms lashed parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), prompting IndiGo to issue a travel advisory for passengers.
In a post on its official social media handle, the airline cautioned travellers about possible delays, citing adverse weather conditions. Passengers were advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport, as extended wait times on the ground and onboard could lead to inconvenience.
The advisory follows a forecast by the India Meteorological Department, which has predicted continued spells of rain and thunderstorms in Delhi over the coming days.

Gusty winds, thunderstorms likely across NCR
According to the IMD, Delhi is expected to experience partly to generally cloudy skies, accompanied by light rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong surface winds over the next five days.

Wind speeds on May 4 are likely to reach 40–50 kmph, with gusts touching up to 60 kmph in several areas. Some parts of the city could witness even stronger gusts ranging between 50–60 kmph, potentially reaching 70 kmph later in the day.
The weather pattern is expected to affect multiple districts, including North, South, East, West and Central Delhi, as well as Shahdara. Similar conditions are likely in neighbouring NCR cities such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.

Unsettled weather likely to persist
The IMD has indicated that unstable weather conditions may continue through May 5 and May 6, with the possibility of thunderstorms developing during the afternoon on May 6. Skies are expected to remain partly cloudy on May 7.
With the region under a weather alert, authorities have advised air travellers to factor in additional travel time and stay updated on flight schedules.
