India’s Anahat Singh was crowned squash Junior World Champion in 2026 and in this triumph, her mentor and coach Saurav Ghoshal encouraged and helped her through very special ways.
Ghosal’s contribution
According to Indian Express, when Anahat was lacing up her shoes to play the finals at Ontario, Ghosal asked: “Are you carrying your braincells today?” to which Anahat replied, “Braincells are awesome today.” Saurav further said, “That’s debatable…”

The teen nailed her fifth attempt at a junior world title. As reported by The Indian Express, Saurav also added, “She’s got a few doses this week. But we do it because we know she can take doses. She doesn’t go into a shell.” He further explained that they need to trigger her to unleash her best and she got better with every match.

Saurav also highlighted that Anahat’s game is not unidimensional, but it needs high intensity play, even while keeping a balanced head. Anahat had reached 3 quarters and one semifinal from her last 4 attempts, with Egyptians halting her most times and hence, Saurav also reminded her of her previous 4 losses by saying, “We hammered into her head that you didn’t lose matches but just couldn’t execute the plan, while the other person was better.”
Saurav also understands the importance of having fun while playing. Saurav’s direct imprint on her game shines in a stroke he used in his playing day; the cross court lob, using the height of the front wall.
Dipika Pallikal’s belief in Anahat
Former Top-10 ace Dipika Pallikal also shared her belief in Anahat’s talent and composure. “She doesn’t look rushed, constructs points patiently, has excellent court awareness and is willing to work for every rally instead of searching for quick winners,” says Dipika to Indian Express.

Dipika also highlighted the areas of improvement, which include becoming physically stronger, adding even more attacking intent when opportunities arise, and continuing to build the confidence to dictate play against the very best. Dipika also reaffirmed the need of enjoying the sport. She added, “One title doesn’t define your career, just as one loss doesn’t define it either. Stay curious, keep improving every day and don’t let outside expectations dictate your journey.”
Dipika also stressed, “The potential is certainly there, but the focus should remain on steady progress rather than chasing milestones too early.”
