The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started disbursing interest annually at the sanctioned rate of 8.25 percent for the fiscal year 2025-26, enabling millions of members to see their account balance after the increase in the provident fund accounts.
Previously, Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated that the EPFO was disbursing interest of more than Rs 1.44 lakh crore for over 34 crore member accounts, and the balances were supposed to be reflected from July 15 onwards.

How can EPFO members check their PF interest?
Subscribers can verify whether the annual interest has been credited using multiple official platforms.
The EPFO Member Passbook Portal allows users to log in with their Universal Account Number (UAN). After Aadhaar-linked OTP authentication, members can access Passbook Lite, where they can view recent contributions, withdrawals, accumulated interest and the latest PF balance.

Members can also use the UMANG app, which offers access to PF balance details, contribution history, claim status, pension transaction summaries and downloadable account statements.
The EPFO Member e-Sewa portal also provides access to account-related services.
Why may the updated balance take time to reflect?
Although EPFO has started processing the annual interest, experts say updated balances may appear gradually across accounts over the coming days or weeks.

It is advisable to check the PF balance of members from the authorized portal of EPFO and not the unauthorized portals. Members should regularly check their passbooks and verify whether the employers’ contribution has been credited to their accounts.
As per experts, the prompt crediting of interest every year increases transparency and builds trust in the retirement savings system of salaried employees.
