Students of La Martiniere for Boys, Kolkata, have earned an invitation to the prestigious CERN Masterclass 2026 in Geneva after the school won the Bose Beamline Challenge for Schools 2025 and received the Visionary Award.
The recognition came after a research paper prepared by Raghav Agarwal, Kabir Agarwal, Yuvraj Shah, Varun Bajoria and Saatvik Gupta under the guidance of S. M. Banerjee impressed the competition jury.

The achievement enabled a 12-member student delegation to participate in the CERN Masterclass. The team included Krishav Agarwal, Aarav Kapoor, Yunav Popat, Aarash Neville Koyithara, Stavan Jain and Viraj Saraogi, among others.
What did the students experience at CERN?
During their visit to Geneva, the students explored some of CERN’s most significant research facilities, including the Antimatter Factory and the ATLAS, ALICE and LHCb experiments.
They also attended lectures delivered by leading scientists and analysed real particle physics data as part of the masterclass, gaining first-hand exposure to advanced scientific research beyond the classroom.
Apart from CERN, the group visited the United Nations headquarters, Chamonix and Mont Blanc, making the educational tour a broader learning experience.
