The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has published the state-wise MBBS seat matrix for NEET UG 2026 counselling, offering candidates a detailed overview of medical colleges and seat availability across the country.

According to information shared by the MCC, the data is intended to help aspirants make informed choices during the counselling process.

The seat matrix includes both government and private medical colleges and reflects the total number of MBBS seats available in each state and Union Territory.

Counselling to be conducted in multiple rounds

As per the official counselling process, MCC will conduct counselling for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), deemed universities, central universities, AIIMS, JIPMER and other participating institutions.

State counselling authorities will separately handle admissions for the remaining 85% state quota seats.

Maharashtra follows with nearly 10%, while Karnataka contributes about 9%, driven by its large number of private medical colleges. Uttar Pradesh holds roughly 8% of the country’s MBBS seats after expanding its government medical education infrastructure.

Rajasthan contributes around 5%, with Gujarat accounting for approximately 5%. Together, these six states make up nearly 48% of India’s total MBBS seat capacity, underscoring their key role in medical education and NEET UG admissions.
