Candidates preparing for the UGC NET June 2026 examination can expect their admit cards to be released by June 15, according to the examination calendar issued by the National Testing Agency. Before that, the agency is expected to issue advance examination city intimation slips by June 10.
The UGC NET is conducted to determine eligibility for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD programmes across India.
The June 2026 examination cycle will be conducted from June 22 to June 30 in computer-based test mode across multiple centres nationwide.
Admit card and exam schedule
The admit card will be available through the official NTA portal and can be downloaded using candidates’ login credentials.
The hall ticket will contain important details, including the examination centre, reporting time, shift timing and instructions that candidates must follow on the day of the examination.
Candidates should carefully verify all information printed on the admit card and ensure they carry a printed copy to the examination centre. Entry into the examination hall will not be permitted without a valid admit card.

Understanding the marking scheme
The UGC NET June 2026 examination will be conducted for 85 subjects in a computer-based format.
Under the prescribed marking scheme, every question carries two marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, which means candidates will not lose marks for wrong responses.
However, no marks will be awarded for questions that remain unanswered or unattempted.
The absence of negative marking often encourages candidates to attempt all questions, provided they can make an informed choice.

Important exam day instructions
The NTA has advised candidates to arrive at their designated examination centre at least two hours before the commencement of the test. The additional time is intended to facilitate registration, frisking and identity verification procedures.
Candidates must carry a printed admit card, a valid photo identity proof and two passport-sized photographs.
Officials have also reminded candidates to carefully read all instructions mentioned on the admit card before appearing for the examination.
According to the examination guidelines, the registration desk will close 30 minutes before the start of the examination. Candidates arriving after the designated closing time may not be allowed to enter the test centre.
