BTS Grammys 2027 has become one of the biggest talking points in the music industry after the global K-pop group announced it will not submit its latest album, Arirang, for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards.

Why are BTS skipping the Grammys?
In a statement shared through the Instagram Stories of all seven members—RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook, the group said it had decided not to submit Arirang for Grammy consideration.
BTS said they believe music should be appreciated on its own merit rather than being divided by language or geographical region. The group also thanked its global fanbase, ARMY, for its continued support.
The announcement comes despite the introduction of the new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category, which is expected to recognise K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and other Asian pop genres at the 2027 Grammy Awards.
How successful has Arirang been?
Released on March 20, Arirang marked BTS’ first full-group comeback following the members’ military service.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning 641,000 equivalent album units in its opening week, including 532,000 pure album sales. BTS also sold 516,000 physical copies across multiple CD and vinyl editions, with vinyl sales alone reaching 208,000 units, making it one of the biggest vinyl debuts in recent chart history.
Its lead single, Swim, also debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100, becoming BTS’ seventh No. 1 single on the chart. All 14 tracks from the album entered Spotify’s Global Daily Top Songs chart on release day, further highlighting the album’s worldwide popularity.

Following a short break, BTS are set to resume their Arirang World Tour on August 1 with two concerts at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The tour will then continue across Foxborough, Baltimore, Arlington, Toronto and Chicago throughout August.
