A viral video shared widely on social media amid reports of post-poll violence in West Bengal has been falsely linked to the Trinamool Congress.
The clip, which shows a woman being confronted after appearing with a bandage on her head during a media interaction, was circulated with claims that a TMC worker had been “caught faking injuries” after the Bengal election results.
However, after fact checking it was found that the incident neither took place in West Bengal nor had any connection to the state’s political violence following the 2026 Assembly elections.

According to the fact-check report, the video was actually filmed at the Shree Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, and dates back to April 28, days before the West Bengal election results were declared.
The misleading claim gained traction online as tensions escalated across Bengal after the BJP’s historic election victory, with several incidents of violence reported from different districts.
Video traced to hospital clash in Bihar
A reverse image search of frames from the viral clip led to a YouTube upload by a channel named Maurya Dhwaj Express, which clarified that the video was unrelated to West Bengal politics.
The channel stated that the incident involved a clash between trolley workers and patients’ families at the Muzaffarpur hospital.
After comparing the visuals from the viral video with publicly available footage from the hospital premises, it is confirmed that the location matched the Shree Krishna Medical College and Hospital campus in Bihar.
Misinformation spreads amid Bengal violence debate
The claim emerged in a period in which several instances involving allegations against videos and their use in association with post-election violence in West Bengal, after the BJP’s victory over the Trinamool Congress.
Various media houses and social media users circulated the video, with the latter claiming that the footage portrayed a TMC employee pretending to be injured in order to elicit empathy. The fact-checking process proved that there was nothing about the Bengal political scene in the video.
This particular case reveals that irrelevant videos tend to resurface in politically sensitive moments, especially those associated with election and violence cases.
