An Uber parcel delivery in Mumbai sparked widespread discussion online after a user claimed that goods worth Rs 19,411 never reached their destination.
The incident gained traction on social media after the customer alleged that the delivery partner sold the items and later asked for money to return them.
Customer claims driver marked parcel delivery as failed
The controversy began after X user Yusuf Unjhawala shared details of the alleged incident on the platform. According to his post, his staff had booked an Uber parcel service to deliver materials worth Rs 19,411. “My staff booked @Uber @Uber_India for material delivery. Invoice value ₹19,411. The driver ‘failed’ the booking and said he sold the material to someone else,” he wrote.
He further alleged that the driver later demanded Rs 2,000 to return the goods. “Now he wants ₹2,000 extra to return it. This is beyond absurd,” the post added.

Social media reacts strongly to the incident
The post quickly drew attention online, with many users criticising the alleged incident and questioning the safety of parcel delivery services. Several people also shared their own experiences with delivery platforms in the comment section.
One user joked, “Buy 1 Get 1 Free theft scheme,” while another commented, “This is literally robbery with customer support.” The reactions soon pushed the post into wider circulation across social media platforms.

Uber responds after viral post
Following the backlash, Uber responded publicly to the complaint on X. The company wrote, “We understand how concerning this must be. Please send us your registered phone number and trip details via DM so we can look into this.”

There has been no official confirmation from Uber regarding the allegations made in the viral post. The company has also not publicly shared details about any action taken against the driver.
