During the 2020 Mumbai controversy following actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Kangana compared Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir while criticising the city’s police and political establishment. The comment led to fierce criticism from Maharashtra leaders and intensified her dispute with the state government.
She also attracted widespread attention during the farmers’ protests by describing sections of demonstrators as “terrorists” after international personalities commented on the agitation. More recently, Kangana criticised viral social media content created around student protests, again placing herself at the centre of a political debate.

Her appearance on Koffee with Karan in 2017 remains one of the most talked-about moments in Bollywood television. During the interview, she described filmmaker Karan Johar as the “flag-bearer of nepotism” and accused him of promoting a “movie mafia”.
