More time for applicants as SBI extends apprentice registration date

The State Bank of India (SBI) has extended the registration deadline for its Apprentice Recruitment 2026 drive, giving aspiring candidates additional time to apply for 7,150 apprenticeship positions across the country.

Candidates who have not yet completed the application process can now submit their forms until June 15, 2026. The earlier deadline was June 8. The extension is expected to benefit applicants who were unable to complete the registration process within the original timeline.

Recruitment drive aims to fill 7,150 vacancies

The recruitment campaign was launched on May 19 under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and seeks to engage 7,150 apprentices in various SBI branches and offices across India. The apprenticeship programme is designed to provide graduates with practical exposure to banking operations and customer service.

Selected candidates will undergo apprenticeship training for one year and receive a monthly stipend as per the terms of the programme.

Who can apply?

According to the reports of Hindustan times, the official notification stated, candidates must hold a graduation degree from a recognised university or institution to be eligible for the recruitment process. The age limit prescribed for applicants is generally between 20 and 28 years, subject to applicable relaxations for reserved categories.

Interested candidates are advised to carefully review the detailed eligibility criteria mentioned in the official notification before applying.

Selection process

The selection process will consist of an online written examination followed by a local language proficiency test. Candidates who qualify in the online test will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the specified local language of the state or region for which they have applied.

The online examination is expected to be conducted in July 2026, although the exact schedule will be announced later by the bank.

How to apply

Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the SBI Careers portal before the revised deadline of June 15. Applicants are advised to complete the registration process well in advance to avoid last-minute technical issues.

The extension offers a fresh opportunity for graduates seeking experience in India’s largest public sector bank and looking to build a career in the banking sector.
