Samson outvalues Jadeja by a fair team profit after IPL 2026 auction

The IPL 2026 has came to an end with many exhilarating matches as spectated from the high-profile teams. Looking at Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the defending champions positioned themselves at the top of the table. With Rajat Patidar’s remarkable strike, RCB advanced to the final, where they will be facing GT, who has recently locked themselves for the finals defeating Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2.

The season of IPL 2026 officially ended for RR and CSK. For CSK, the league stage went through a combination of brilliance and inconsistency. Whereas RR made it to the playoffs but lastly halted by GT at the Qualifier 2. The squad balance of both the teams deepened a tension after their pre-season trade decision.

The deal at the IPL 26 auction

During the auction early before the tournament, CSK and RR came to a straightforward deal between their two star players. CSK made an exchange by sending Ravindra Jadeja by Rs. 14 crore to RR and collecting Sanju Samson for Rs. 18 crore.

Both the players have shown their dominance at the internationals, pricing them in the range of Rs. 12-18 crore.

The IPL season of Sanju and Jadeja

In IPL 2026, Sanju Samson scored a total of 477 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 165.63 and an average of 43.36. He also held himself good behind the stumps registering a total of six dismissals. Sanju also impacted his performance at the 18th, 33rd and 48th match of this season including a century which left a highlight in his IPL career.

On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja has scored 266 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 134.52 and an average of 66.25. With the ball, he left out an economy rate of 8.39 across 33 overs and bagging 10 wickets at a ratio of 19.8 at ball-per-wicket. But his fielding impact made a negative outcome which is unjustified for a cricketer who is fine at fielding.

The post-auction financial statistics

After the application of full auction price in overall of the season, Samson generated in terms of his performance which values to Rs. 17.99 crore against a cost of Rs. 18 crore. RR received net loss of less than Rs. 1 lakh and 99.96 percent cost recovery.

Whereas Jadeja’s ledger generated a performance value of Rs. 11.20 crore against his auction cost of Rs. 14 crore. RR received a loss of Rs. 2.80 crore and a cost recovery of 80.03 percent.

Jadeja’s per-match impact index of 64.31 was actually higher than Samson’s 44.08 but was left behind the CSK keeper due to his under-performance frequency, three missed match and a low economy.

The result after the matches of RR and CSK

Chennai Super Kings outsmarted RR by being non-dramatic and relying clearly on measures. They gained a batter as well as a wicket-keeper which gained them their high-profile value ahead of RR.
