India’s women’s lawn bowls pair of Pinki Singh and Rupa Rani Tirkey continued their winning start at the Commonwealth Games 2026, defeating South Africa in straight sets to strengthen their hopes of reaching the knockout stage.

India’s Pinki Singh and Rupa Rani Tirkey defeated South Africa’s Thabelo Muvhango and Jacqui Janse van Rensburg 2-0 (6-4, 7-5) in the women’s pairs Section B match at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Friday.

The Indian duo was tested throughout the contest but held their composure in the closing stages of both sets to seal their second consecutive victory. After opening their campaign with a win over Malta, the result keeps India unbeaten and at the top of the Section B standings.

The victory also puts the pair in a strong position to qualify for the next stage of the competition.

Birmingham gold medallists continue strong form

Pinki and Rupa were part of the Indian team that won the historic women’s fours gold medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. With the fours event not included in the Glasgow edition, the pair have shifted their focus to the women’s pairs competition.

The experienced duo has adapted well to the new format, combining accurate deliveries with calm decision-making in pressure situations.

India had created history in Birmingham by winning its first-ever lawn bowls gold. Now competing in the pairs event, Pinki and Rupa have carried that confidence into Glasgow and have made an excellent start to their campaign.
