India registered its best-ever boxing performance at the Commonwealth Games by winning a record five gold medals at the 2026 edition in Glasgow. The historic feat surpassed the country’s previous best of three golds, with Indian women boxers leading the charge in a dominant campaign.

Indian women dominate the podium of Commonwealth Games 2026

The gold medal haul began with Preeti Pawar, who defeated Canada’s Scarlett Delgado by unanimous decision in the women’s 54kg final. She controlled the contest from the opening round, handing India its first boxing gold of the Games.

World champion Jaismine Lamboria followed with another dominant display in the women’s 57kg final, defeating Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh 5-0. Her speed and accuracy proved too much for her opponent as India doubled its gold tally.

Sakshi Chaudhary then claimed the women’s 51kg title after outclassing England’s Ruby White in another one-sided final. The Indian boxer secured a unanimous 5-0 victory to keep India’s golden run alive.

Record broken with fifth gold in Commonwealth Games 2026

Priya Ghanghas created history in the women’s 60kg category by defeating Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh 4-1. Her victory ensured India surpassed its previous Commonwealth Games record for boxing gold medals.

The landmark fifth gold came through Arundhati Choudhary, who defeated England’s Chantelle Reid in the women’s 70kg final with a composed performance, sealing a unanimous decision.

India also added two silver medals through Jadumani Singh in the men’s 55kg division and Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain, who finished runner-up in the women’s 75kg final after losing to Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree.
