Wimbledon has announced a record-breaking prize money increase for its 2026 edition, with the men’s and women’s singles champions set to receive £3.6 million (around Rs 46 crore) each. The move comes as players continue to push for a larger share of revenue generated by tennis’ biggest tournaments.
The All England Club confirmed that the total prize fund for Wimbledon 2026 will be £64.2 million, representing a 20 percent increase from last year. It is the largest year-on-year rise in the tournament’s history and underlines Wimbledon’s commitment to rewarding players across all levels of the competition.
Record rewards for singles champions
The biggest beneficiaries of the increase are the singles champions, who will each take home £3.6 million. The runners-up will earn £1.8 million, reflecting a significant rise from previous editions.

Tournament organisers said the enhanced prize fund is designed to support players throughout the draw, not just those who reach the latter stages. As a result, prize money has been increased across all rounds of the competition.

The announcement comes at a time when several leading players have been calling for Grand Slam tournaments to distribute a greater share of their revenues. Higher payouts across the tournament
Players who lose in the first round of the singles draw will now receive £80,000, a 21 percent increase from last year. The qualifying competition has also received a major boost, with its prize pool rising by 25 percent to £6.2 million.
