Tesla, the electric automaker, entered the two-wheeler market on Thursday with the launch of its new offering; a $225 pedal-less bike for toddlers, called the Balance Bike for Kids.

This would give parents a more attainable entry point into Tesla’s ecosystem.

The features

The bike is made with a lightweight magnesium frame and adjustable seats. It is suitable for children between two and five years of age, has 5 height level, a maximum weight limit of 77 pounds and is finished with the Tesla wordmark on the side and Tesla logo on the front.

These bikes are motor-free, only powered by the child’s legs and are supposed to help young children learn how to steer and balance before having a pedal bicycle.

The company is also launching a matching balance bike T-shirt for $30.

The bike is the latest addition to Tesla’s line of products for children, alongside a $1,500 ride-on Cybertruck for kids, a $1,650 Cyberquad, children’s clothes, and an Optimus action figure.

Social media users react

Numerous users on X have joked about Tesla’s small bike before delivering the long-awaited second-generation Roadster. Announced in 2017, by CEO Elon Musk, the Roadster 2 has faced several delays.

One wrote, “Tesla made a children’s bike before Roadster 2.”

“Getting my nephew one of these before he even asks for it, the magnesium frame is actually wild for a kid’s bike,” added another user.

Another user commented, “That is likely the ugliest bike that a human has ever designed.”
